As President and CEO of National Wildlife Productions, Inc., Chris Palmer leads the television, film and multimedia programs of the National Wildlife Federation, the nation's largest member-supported conservation group with over four million members and supporters.  Since joining the National Wildlife Federation in 1994, Palmer has directed NWF's launch into broadcast, cable, syndication, home video, new media, large format and international markets.

Palmer has creative and financial responsibility for NWF television programming for networks like TBS Superstation and Animal Planet, as well as children's programming, feature films and interactive multimedia programs.  He also produces and distributes giant-screen films for IMAX® and other large format theaters, including Whales, Wolves, Bears, and Tigers.  He executive produced Dolphins which was recently nominated for an Oscar.®

Previously, Palmer was President of National Audubon Society Productions, which he founded in 1984.  Between 1984 and 1994, he headed an Audubon/Turner Joint Venture and was the executive producer of 40 hour-long documentaries that won more than 60 national and international awards, including two Emmys.  In 1994, Palmer was honored with the Frank G. Wells Award from the Environmental Media Association for "contributing to environmental protection year after year."

Prior to starting his work in television in 1984, Palmer was Director of Energy and Environment for the National Audubon Society.  Before joining Audubon in 1981, he was a political appointee in the Environmental Protection Agency under the Carter Administration.  He was also Chief Energy Advisor to Senator Charles Percy (R-IL) for four years.  Prior to his government career, Palmer spent three years as a senior consultant with Booz, Allen & Hamilton.  He also served seven years as an officer in the British Royal Navy.  He has three degrees from London and Harvard.
