Dark Universe comes from the American Museum of Natural History, and briefly tells of the history and current state of our universe.  I think outer space and the Giant Screen need to go and get married already.  Two things never went so well together as they do.

Dark Universe treats its subject matter with the reverence and awe it no less deservers.  A remarkable opening sequence poses our minuscule planet against the vast, limitless rest of the universe.  The film progresses to explain difficult concepts like the Big Bang and cosmic expansion in an easy to grasp manner.  There's no real focal point in the film.  It's basically a summary of what we currently know of the universe, even touching upon the differences between dark matter and dark energy.

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson narrates the film; his wonder and excitement over the universe is apparent.  3D renders of outer space are also a nice touch giving usually flat, still images depth and movement.  Despite these assets, it would help to have an interest in science, physics, and/or astronomy before hitting up this film.  It tends to trudge along in the later portions.  Still, the film does indeed have some fantastic images and insights into our universe that surely benefits anyone who would view it.
