Blue Fin: An Amazing Ocean Odyssey

This blue-chip natural history film tells the remarkable life story of a Southern Blue Fin Tuna, and the unique ocean current that assists her circumnavigation of an entire continent. She runs the gauntlet of many dangers and survival dramas as her epic journey takes her through an extraordinary variety of exotic marine wonderlands. Blue Fin is Finding Nemo for real. At first the tiny Blue Fin is mere vulnerable prey, but during her seven-year great migration she transforms into one of the ocean's swiftest and most formidable hunters. But to survive to maturity she must evade the many ruthless predators that hunt her: birds, dolphins, sharks, killer whales -- and humans. So prized is her flesh, and so efficient are modern industrial fishing methods, that we have hunted the Southern Blue Fin almost to extinction. The species is now on the Critically Endangered list.
