Flying Monsters 3D
Alternate Title(s): Flying Monsters 3D with David Attenborough
For thousands of years, humans have believed that there were once flying monsters. But could creatures this extraordinary really have existed?
Two-hundred-and-twenty-million years ago dinosaurs were beginning their domination of Earth. But another group of reptiles was about to make an extraordinary leap: Pterosaurs were taking control of the skies. The story of how and why these mysterious creatures took to the air is more fantastical than any fiction.
In the giant-screen adventure film Flying Monsters 3D, world-renowned naturalist David Attenborough sets out to uncover the truth about pterosaurs, the enigmatic creatures whose wingspans are thought to have been more than 40 feet, equal to that of a modern-day jet plane. Attenborough works with scientists to understand the incredible story of the evolution of the pterosaurs, a story that unfolds in such stunning locations as New Mexico's "Ghost Ranch," the Jurassic Coast of Lyme Regis in Britain, an ancient pterosaur landing site in Southern France and a fossil pit in Germany where near-perfect pterosaur specimens have been found.
The engaging film transports audiences back in time and immerses them in an incredible ancient world to explore two central questions and two of the greatest mysteries in palaeontology: How and why did pterosaurs fly? How did creatures the size of giraffes defy gravity and soar through prehistoric skies? Driven by these questions, Attenborough sets out to collect data and piece together the miraculous discoveries and evidence of this true flying enigma. As a result, he begins to unravel one of the enduring mysteries of science, revealing along the way that the marvel of pterosaur flight has evolutionary echoes that resonate today.
Flying Monsters 3D is a groundbreaking film that uses spectacular visuals, cutting-edge 3-D technology and CGI, pioneering scientific techniques and recent paleontological finds to bring the story of giant flying monsters to the giant screen. Audiences of all ages will be in awe as they enter a prehistoric world and experience as never before the real Flying Monsters that once ruled the skies.
