Robots: The IMAX Experience

bigImage 20th Century Fox and Academy Award winning director Chris Wedge, who last joined forces on the blockbuster animated hit ICE AGE, now team to create another visually spectacular, three-dimensional world, with an all-star, award-winning cast, in ROBOTS. Beyond the scope, freshness and vibrancy of an incredible world populated solely by mechanical beings, Wedge and his team are creating memorable robots, each with "his"/"her" own distinct personality. The result is a timeless tale that pushes the boundaries of animation, while introducing characters rich with whimsy, heart and soul.

The film was digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology, a process that takes a 35mm film print and outputs it to true 70mm size and resolution.

Robots was clearly enhanced by the upgrade to IMAX. It was very pretty to watch, truly "Eye Candy" and charming, especially for kids. But why go half way after the sensation of POLAR EXPRESS in IMAX 3D, and its stunning box office results. 'Talk about a NO BRAINER!!! They should immedialy start on a 3D stereo rendering for late summer release. ROBOTS did 40% better tha POLAR EXPRESS on the opening week-end, so why did it do less than half the business in the 58 IMAX dates? NO 3D STEREO to Wow the audiences and please the kids. Wake up FOX, PIXAR, DREAMWORKS! 3D is the only way to go with any future animation to show in IMAX theaters. And you better do something about bringing 3D to 35mm houses as well when the film is CGI animation. ... Read More >>
