The Museum of Science and Industry's large-format film production and distribution division has successfully distributed "Antarctica" to more than 80% of the large format theaters worldwide. Released in 1991 "Antarctica," continues to be a staple of large format theaters around the world. In 2000, "Antarctica" will be exhibited as a feature film in ten theaters. The Museum co-produced and is co-distributing, "Mysteries of Egypt," with Destination Cinema. "Mysteries of Egypt" in its second year of release has already opened more than 100 theaters and was Variety Magazine's box office record holder in 1999 for large-format films. The Museum has been instrumental in shaping content in large format films to meet the needs of the base of institutional theaters. In addition, to being a member of the Museum Film Network, and producing "Antarctica," MSI has assisted filmmakers in creating special educational versions of "Yellowstone," "Super Speedway" and "Great Barrier Reef."
