Slee began his career in 1981, after graduating from the University of London with a BA in Film, Photography, and Television, working as an editor at the BBC. Between 1984 and 1987 he was a partner in a production company making TV commercials and Music videos. Since co-founding The Principal Film Company in 1987, he has co-executive produced all of their productions. He has also directed more than 40 films, including the three award–winning series After the Warming, for PBS, Connections 2, Ultra Science, for The Learning Channel, the specials Choppers on Patrol and Blast Force for Discovery Channel. In 1998 The Principal Film Company merged with The Big Picture Partnership (their associated Large Format production company) to form Principal Media Group, whereupon Slee took up the position of Creative Director for PMG and Producer/Director – drama/factual/Large Format. Slee was the Director on Wildfire: Feel the Heat for Discovery Channel Pictures in association with Principal Large Format, the giant screen production arm of Principal Media Group.
