right now it is december 19th, 2009. All these comments dont have dates on them. does anyone know if they're showing the polar express 3D anywhere around the Philadelphia area. we are willing to drive to new york and new jersey to a theatre thats playing. i actually just found out that the polar express came out in 3D. which is really depressing because i cant believe this movie has been out since 2004 because it feels like yesterday it came out and i was with my family at the theatre watching it. my little brother is obsessed with this movie and hes 6. its hard to believe that he watches this movie all year round and hes been doing it since he was 1. since the movie came out 5 years ago. wow. this is soo crazy. thanks if anyone can answer my question about the 3D version in theatres this christmas of 2009. oh. and also, if anyone knows if theyre doing a polar express reanactment. i know last year around the philadelphia area i heard they did a show. i believe it was in trenton. and apparently there was a train that parents would buy for their kids and go on it and the waiters performed the HOT CHOCOLATE scene and gave out hot chocolate to kids on a train ride. does anyone know if this is still going on. remember, it is december 19th 2009 today that im writing this. i know im a little late but i had no idea all of these activities went on for the polar express movie and its our favorite movie of all time.

We took our children to see this movie last weekend...and all I can say is AWESOME!!!  This was our family's first IMAX experience and we cannot wait to do it again.  The theater we chose was in the Tropicana in Atlantic City, NJ and it was the greatest experience ever!

Took the grandchildren to a wonderful Imax 3-D theatre in Rochester, NY.  The experience of viewing a perfect print on a properly balanced sound system and crystal clear projection was breathtaking.  The two boys, age 4 and 8 were totally hooked five minutes in and never even moved in their seats for the remainder of the film.
This is the way this film should be seen.  Could you imagine what the Christmas tree scene at the end of the film would have looked like in a third or fourth generation 35mm release print usually done at some bad duping house with gate weave and color balance discreps between reels.  We can thank Imax and your local theatre for making this experience of a lifetime possible.

This film has made over $41 million dollars in just 72 IMAX 3D playdates! Utterly unprecedented and amazing! 'Best example ever of the suitability of using 3D to exhibit a CGI
film. Very well and great...BUT, the industry must wake up to the nedd for a second tier of LF 3D presentation. I submit that this film should both reappear at Thanksgiving 2005 in the same IMAX theaters for another 5 weeks,
(the old back by popular demand!!!) but also open in another 500 to 1000 regular 35mm multi-theater complexes
using the minimal LF format. That format is CINE150-3D.
Basically a single projector running the 3D movie with a
CINERAMA 6 perf pull down. It is so simple. The whole deal can be done, big silver screen and all for $20,000 or less.
There is serious consideration of this approach both in the U.S. and in Europe. Just think of the many advantages to the LF community ifthere were a scaled down IMAX network
marketing in step with the full sized IMAX locations. The analogy would be this: Airlines can only fly 747s for
passengers. No 737s, no smaller feeder craft. That would be
very impractible...frankly NUTS! The same is true with LF
theaters. Have the IMAX chain but also have 6 perf 35 in
ten times as many locations. One auditorium in each major theater complex to serve smaller communities! Think about it! If you haven't seem Polar Express in 3D...by all means see it!

I was completely enthralled from start to finish. Draws you into its world with stunning CGI enhanced reality and visual crispness, awesome choreography, music, sound effects, and of course, the huge IMAX screen w/3-D. Some of the flying/aerial scenes were spectacularly breathtaking, and one of my favorite scenes was a troupe of waiters dancing, jumping, and singing in a train-car while serving "HOT!, HOT!, HOT! CHOCOLATE." The energy in this scene is palpable, with a catchy tune and camera angles that surprise and delight you every second.
The story was, by itself, an average Christmas story, but don't let that comment discourage you from seeing it. It succeeded wildly on every other level and Director Zemeckis and Actor Hanks told a great story!

Well done!  It was nice to see an uplifting, clean, creative movie. A great one for the whole family:  It definitely got my family in the spirit of Christmas.  The music by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard was incredible.  They did a really good job of sticking as much as possible to the original story by Chris Van Allsburg, yet expanding the plot and developing the characters.  I would reccommend this to anyone!

If Walt Disney had released Pinnochio in 1941 with 2 versions, black & White or Technicolor, and the color
version averaged FOURTEEN TIMES AS MUCH BUSINESS PER SCREEN,
black and white animation features would be concidered obsolete! This is exactly what happened with "Polar Express"
3D Movies are by far best way to see "so called,3D animation". All future animation films should be PRIMARILY
released in 3D stereo! A compromise format like the new
6 perf 35mm 3D format would work fine in most complexes.
IMAX should open 300 to 500 within a year, if they are smart! They only cost about $20,000 per screen to set up!

Nothing Short of Genious!   Words cannot describe it. It must suffice to say.. "Shear Genious!"  Toally amazing and awe inspiring. Hands down the finest movie ever made about Christmas and Santa Claus.  All other Christmas films (and there are some excellent ones)  can go home.  Brilliant!! Moved to tears several times from the shear beauty and imagination.   I'd say DROP EVERYTHING and go to the next showing of POLAR EXPRESS!!!

DO NOT MISS IT ON IMAX IN 3D!!!
