National Geographic Cinema Ventures (NGCV) is excited to announce that Extreme Weather 3D (working title) has officially been green-lit, and will be released in late 2015/early 2016 in large-format or digital 3D cinemas worldwide. Extreme Weather is the latest project from professional storm chaser and filmmaker Sean Casey, and NGCV is thrilled to add it to to what is already one of the industry’s largest and most successful film libraries.

Extreme Weather will take audiences inside hurricanes, tornadoes, drought, floods, and more wild weather scenarios, giving them a better understanding of these forces of nature and how to prepare for when they strike. Viewers will ride alongside Sean in one of his famed tornado intercept vehicles as he travels on a groundbreaking mission to record the first vertical scans of a tornado.

Sean will be heading into the field this spring and we are looking forward to seeing all the thrilling, dramatic footage and images he captures along the way. Get updates on production & stories from the field by following Sean on Twitter at @SeanCaseyImax. Stay tuned to Nat Geo Movies for updates on release date, theater listings, movie trailer and more.
