MacGillivray Freeman Films Names Craig Thompson Senior Director for Business Development

LAGUNA BEACH, Ca. (January 11, 2010) -- MacGillivray Freeman Films announced today the appointment of Craig Thompson to the newly created position of Senior Director for Business Development. Thompson, a 25-year veteran of the sponsorship world, joins the company's business development team and is responsible for developing strategic partnerships and sponsorship opportunities for the company's film projects.

Thompson previously spent more than two decades in Europe developing and activating high-profile sponsorship, marketing and licensing deals in the sports world. Some of his notable accomplishments include the creation and launch of the World Beach Volleyball championships, the World Equestrian Games, and the expansion of the European Soccer League (UEFA Champions League) into a global attraction watched by 4.8 billion worldwide television viewers.

The business development team, overseen by Mike Lutz, Senior Vice President for Business Development, is seeking strategic partnerships for the company's slate of upcoming 3D giant-screen films including To The Arctic (2011), Humpback Whales (2012), and Everest: Conquering Thin Air (2013).

MacGillivray Freeman's upcoming releases in 2010 are the 3D giant-screen film Arabia, which premieres in select IMAX Theatres on February 12, and the theatrical documentary Hollywood Don't Surf slated for release in May.
