Los Angeles, CA - During its recent "Size Matters" conference, The Large Format Cinema Association added new members to its the board of directors who will help guide the organization in the coming 12 months. In addition, President Robert Dennis of CFI/Technicolor will serve the second year of his tenure as head of the LFCA, while Andy Gellis of Cinevest was not only re-elected by the general membership for another three year term, but was voted by the board to be its new First Vice-President. Mary Anne Porter of Turtle Bay will continue on as Secretary, along with Treasurer Beverly Pasterczyk of Kodak, who also was re-elected to the Board for another three-year term.

Other ongoing board members include Jonathan Barker of Shaftesbury/SK Flms, Paul Giguere of Pulseworks, Chevy Humphrey of the Arizona Science Center, Steve Thorburn of Thorburn & Associates and past president Chris Reyna of IMAGICA USA. Several board members were re-elected for an additional three-year term by those who voted during the conference. They include Charlotte Brohi of Houston Museum of Natural Science, Dennis Earl Moore of Dennis Earl Moore Productions and Christopher Palmer of the National Wildlife Federation.

Two new board members were elected during the conference this year. Andrew Oran, founder of Lynbrook Productions works closely with Gulliver Labs in Paris providing Large Format film post-production supervision and quality control. Prior to re-locating to Europe, Andrew worked with past president Chris Reyna at IMAGICA USA supervising format conversions. Deborah Hartnett, Senior Manager of Film Distribution for Simex/Iwerks has been working in the Large Format industry since 1999 and brings her membership and fundraising expertise to LFCA. She will become an important part of the Conference committee after successfully coordinating all volunteer assistance at this year’s event.

After the elections were completed, there were two unfulfilled slots that required "appointed Board members" to fulfill open, unexpired terms. John Lundin’s distinguished 30-year career in motion picture exhibition and distribution make him an excellent choice for the LFCA Board. He is Vice-President of Cinemark Theaters and Head Film Buyer for the exhibitor’s 2,253 screens including their 5 IMAX theaters. In 2002, John received the Al Shapiro Distinguished Service Award during ShowEast. The second appointee, Cherie Rivers, is Manager of the Omni Theater Programs at the Mugar Omni Theater at the Museum of Science in Boston. With over 20 years in Large Format industry, she also serves on the GSTA’s Production and Technical Committee where she has coordinated the Technical Session for the GSTA’s annual conference since 1998.

The mission of the Large Format Cinema Association is to promote international public awareness of large-screen entertainment formats; to provide a forum for sharing information among 70mm filmmaker, suppliers and manufacturers, distributors, theaters and their support industry; and to foster the growth of the large-screen entertainment industry through encouraging product availability, technical standards of quality and other activities as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors.
