GIANT SCREEN FEAST as IMAX® firsts come to London

NOVEMBER 11, 2002: This year’s VFX (Visual Effects) Conference – VFX 20002 – will see first showings of IMAX® format films as diverse as Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Shrek, Santa vs. the Snowman and dance spectacular Pulse – A Stomp Odyssey, described by Graeme Ferguson, co-founder of Imax Corporation as “One of the most brilliant uses of the medium ever”. There will also be unique insights into how to achieve the magnificent sound and imagery that only Giant Screen Films can bring you with and without digital manipulation.

The IMAX programme will run as the morning session of VFX 2002 and guest speakers will include Anthony Faust (UK) Golden Reel award winner for The Human Body, Don MacBain (USA) (formerly of PDI/DreamWorks), Toni Myers of Imax Corporation (Director of Space Station 3D) and the creators of Pulse A Stomp Odyssey; Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas

In a year when Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Die Another Day have highlighted the box office potential for visual effects in film VFX 2002 will discuss and debate the issues – with speakers from the major projects and top production houses. The conference theme – “Excellence in UK visual effects” – will allow participants to focus on what makes the UK such a strong contributor to film visual effects and how to keep it that way. Also being debated will be the state of training in the UK, with speakers from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), and Skillset.
