In a clear break from the industry's museum-oriented filmmaking tradition, ESPN and Disney (actually, Disney's alter-ego Touchstone Pictures) have released a Big Movie aimed squarely at the commercial audience. "Ultimate X" documents the 2001 Summer X-Games competition, displaying in Super-Size the thrills and risks of sports like Moto X, vert ramp skateboarding and BMX, and revealing the personas of the daredevil, sometimes irreverent athletes.
